On this website:

In addition to the main pages listed in the column on the left, this site currently contains --

*A page with links to other persons named Brad and/or Bradley Denton  . . .

     * Three excerpts from LAUGHIN' BOY  (a novel published in August 2005 by Subterranean Press) . . .

*The full text of the novella "Sergeant Chip", first published in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction , September 2004 (edited by Gordon Van Gelder), and winner of the 2005 Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award . . .

*The novella "Blackburn and the Blade" (from the Subterranean Press anthology LORDS OF THE RAZOR , July 2006) . . .

     and

*An mp3, "Botany Bay,"  from the 1998 Ax Nelson CD Racing with the Moon .  This song is free to download and share under a Creative Commons Music Sharing License.

Eat Our Brains:

*A new blog located at EatOurBrains.com.  Seven contributors, no waiting.  Each contributor may post as many entries as he or she wishes, but must post at least one entry on his or her assigned weekday.  (Brad is Thursday's Child.)  The culprits:  Madeleine E. Robins, Steven Gould, Morgan J. Locke, Maureen F. McHugh, Rory Harper, Caroline Spector, and Bradley Denton.

Magazines:

*The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction has been my favorite periodical (in any category or genre) for thirty-five years.

*Locus Online is a great source for up-to-date news in the science fiction and fantasy fields.  Book reviewers for other magazines and newspapers should check this site at least once a week, just so they'll know what's going on.

*Revolution SF is getting better and better.

*SciFiction is disappearing soon.  Go there NOW to read all of the tremendous stories Ellen Datlow has published on the site.

*Science Fiction Weekly has news and interviews galore.

     *The Onion.  You know why.

*Harmony Central.  Take a look at the "User Reviews" before you buy that new guitar or amplifier.

*Asimov's.  With F&SF, Asimov's leads the fight against the forces of evil.

Writers, Artists, Editors:

*Walton "Bud" Simons.  Bud has written short stories, comic-book scripts, reviews, and Wild Cards mosaic fiction.  And now he has a website, too.

*Junction Point Studios is the new online home of boy genius and Game God Warren Spector .

*Howard Waldrop  is one of our greatest living short-story writers; they don't call him Mr. National Treasure for nothing.  He doesn't have a computer or an email address, but he has a website.  Go figure.

*Doug Potter illustrated my two-volume story collection back in 1994.  He's also illustrated the work of Howard Waldrop, written and drawn comic books, and drawn dozens of cartoons and covers for the Austin Chronicle.  He's good.  Take a look.

*Ninfinger.org belongs to photographer, aerospace buff, and software engineer Sven Knudson, whose stunning nature photos line the walls of my and Barb's home.  Why "ninfinger"?  Ask Sven.

*Caroline Spector's novel Scars has just been published (October 2005).  This is a "Lost Novel of Earthdawn" that was supposed to have been published in the U.S. ten years ago.  It appeared in Europe, but it's only now seeing print here in the States.  It's dark and beautiful.

*Jonathan Strahan, editor and reviewer extraordinaire, recently said some nice things about LAUGHIN' BOY in his blog, "Notes from Coode Street."  The rest of the blog is pretty swell, too.

*The Reverend Steve Galindo had a few things to say about my work recently, too.  It's good to have readers with blogs.

     * Jayme Lynn Blaschke is a terrific writer -- and he recently published a book of interviews with still more terrific writers, Voices of Vision.

*Check out the fantastic art of David Lee Anderson.  He also plays guitar.

*Ditto Patrick Nielsen Hayden.  His site (jointly owned and operated with Teresa Nielsen Hayden) is a great source of news and opinion.

*Neal Barrett, Jr. is my hero.

*John Picacio.  Holy smokes, what an artist.

*Benjamin Rosenbaum isn't just one of our best new writers in American science fiction and fantasy.  He's one of our best writers, period.

*Rick Kleffel's Agony Column is a one-stop source for insightful genre news, reviews, and interviews.

*Michael Bishop is the writer we should all want to be when we grow up.

*Sff.net hosts home pages for many science-fiction and fantasy professionals -- too many to list here.  Check it out.

*The Night Shade Books Discussion Boards include message boards for magazines like F&SF and Argosy -- and for writers and editors like Andrew Fox, Ellen Datlow, Jack Womack, Adam-Troy Castro, and dozens of others.

Book Publishers:

*Subterranean Press publishes books by Joe R. Lansdale, Tim Powers, Poppy Z. Brite, George R.R. Martin, and many other authors (including Bradley Denton)  There's a Subterranean magazine now, too.

*Night Shade Books publishes books by Kage Baker, Joe Haldeman, Iain M. Banks, Jack Cady, and many others.

*Small Beer Press publishes books by Sean Stewart, Benjamin Rosenbaum, Kelly Link, Richard Butner, and other important writers.  Small Beer also publishes Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet .

*Wheatland Press publishes books by Steven Utley and Lucius Shepard, among other fine authors.

*Golden Gryphon has published books by Neal Barrett, Jr., Jeffrey Ford, Charles Stross, Robert Reed, M. Rickert, and George Alec Effinger, to name but a few.

*Four Walls Eight Windows has done a lot of great books -- like One Lamp and Witpunk (among many others).

*Pyr Books has published novels by Chris Roberson, Charles Coleman Finlay, Michael Blumlein, and Robert Silverberg.  Stunning books.

Booksellers:

     *Edge BooksLouisiana's finest.

*Realms of Fantasy Books.  Oklahoma's finest.

     *Dreamhaven Books.  Minnesota's finest.

*Adventures in Crime and Space.  Texas's finest.

     *Clarkesworld Books.  New Jersey's finest.

     *BookPeople.  America's largest independent bookstore.

     *Amazon.com.  Pretty decent inventory.

*eBay.  Type the name of any published author in the Search box.  You may find buried treasure.

*Signed Bradley Denton books at Half.com.  Help Barb get them out of the house.

Other fascinating sites:

*Christopher Walken for President.  Maybe a joke.  Maybe not.  But it makes as much sense as anything else.

*Boing Boing.  "A Directory of Wonderful Things."

*Mrs. Betty Bowers is America's Best Christian, and Landover Baptist is her church.

*Visit the website of the J. Wayne and Elsie M. Gunn Center for the Study of Science Fiction.

*FACT (the Fandom Association of Central Texas) has information about ArmadilloCon as well as other fantastical things -- such as . . .

*The 2006 World Fantasy Convention in Austin, Texas.  The Guests of Honor were Dave Duncan, Glen Cook, and Robin Hobb; the Editor Guest of Honor was Glenn Lord; the Artist Guest of Honor was John Jude Palencar; the Robert E. Howard Artist Guest was Gary Gianni; and the Toastmaster was Bradley Denton.  It's over now.  But it was a lot of fun, and we had a jam session .

*MidAmericon.org is an amazing source of history and news about conventions and fandom in the Midwest.  It includes the MidAmerican Fan Photo Archive.

*Fender.  Lookit all the pretty guitars . . .

     *Martin.  Ditto.

*Living Prague.  Jason Holt, a British expat living in the Czech Republic, has built a site jam-packed with useful information for English-speakers planning to visit Prague.

*The American Red Cross.  Because they give real help to real people who really need it.
